Being the "light of the world" in your own backyard and in your community.
13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt has become tasteless, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled under foot by men.
14 “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;15 nor does anyone light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.
16 “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
St. Benedict’s Chapel
St. Benedict’s Chapel is a downtown ministry that feeds the homeless in Lubbock. 4 teams from our church are currently being formed to be in rotation to help serve on Fridays from 3PM to 6PM. This is a great opportunity for our church to be ‘on mission’ and serve those in our community.
To learn more about this ministry, please contact Jerry Ramirez 806.747.0281.
First Lubbock partners with Lubbock Impact at 34th and Boston. Here you can volunteer to serve in the soup kitchen.
In addition, they need volunteers for a clothing closet. Recruitment to help with this opportunity will be done through our young adult and 50 Plus ministries. If you have questions, please contact the mission’s office at 806.747.0281.
Circumstances along the journey of life are sometimes beyond our control and one of the ways that our church can give a hand up is by provided a hot meal for a family or individual. First Lubbock is partnering with Fiesta Domingo, a ministry of Aldersgate Church at Hope Community of Shalom. Many whom we will feed are either homeless or are just having a hard time putting food on the table.
Once a quarter on a Sunday night FBC members will get together and cook a meal to feed 125 to 150 people at the Hope Community of Shalom, which is housed in the Asbury Methodist Church building.
Volunteers will be recruited through the Sunday School departments. If you are interested in learning more about this ministry, contact Jerry Ramirez 806.747.1027.
Kids Hope USA
Your willingness to invest just one hour a week of your time is the one that can change the life of an at-risk student. At Dupre Elementary there are a variety of ministry opportunities that would allow us to express the love of Christ and be the presence of God in the life of a child—volunteering to read with kids, tutoring kids in reading and math, donating physical education equipment, donating small gifts for student incentives (for attendance, good behavior, etc.), or helping to provide teacher appreciation lunches.
For more about Kids Hope USA, please contact Jennifer Crews 806.747.0281.

To obtain additional information about this ministry, to become a Silent Partner or if you are a law enforcement officer in Lubbock County who would like to have a Silent Partner, please contact Jim Tillinghast.
